John 5:18 “but he was also calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God” [1] השליח שוה לשולחו “The one sent is equal to his sender” Mishnah Berachot 5:5 שְּׁלוּחוֹ שֶׁל אָדָם כְּמוֹתוֹ “a man’s agent is like unto himself”. Following the miracle, John 5:16-18 records: " And this was why the Judeans were persecuting Jesus, because he was doing these things on the Sabbath. But Jesus answered them, "My Father is working until now, and I am working." This was why the Judeans were seeking all the more to kill him, because not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was also calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God." John 5:18 has been one of the standard passages that Trinitarians interpret as showing the deity of Jesus. Accor
